HAMADA SHUZO
Distillery: Hamada Shuzo
Founded: 1868
Founded in Kagoshima prefecture (the birthplace of Imo Shochu) Hamada Brewery has passed down and preserved their traditions and skills for over 140 years. By combining this with research and innovation, they hope to help the world understand the appeal of Shochu.
KAGOSHIMA
Their Vision of Honkaku Shochu
Hamada Shuzo has long held a dream: to elevate Honkaku Shochu as a true traditional Japanese spirit and establish it among the world’s finest liquors. With over 500 years of history, Honkaku Shochu represents not only Kagoshima but Japan itself. The goal is for it to be enjoyed globally, much like whiskey today.
To achieve this, Hamada Shuzo preserves traditional flavors while exploring new possibilities. Its three distinct distilleries highlight the depth of Shochu from different angles. The effort goes beyond the company, with collaborations forming across various organizations.
From Ichikikushikino City, Hamada Shuzo looks outward to Japan and the world, inspired by the spirit of the Satsuma samurai students. The company continues to take on new challenges, support the community, and carry forward the Hamada Spirit.
